The installation process is fairly straightforward, and should take about 2-3 hours on a typical Windows Server machine. The requirements for the server are set out in this link.

Some of the more important steps would be:

1. Ensure that Microsoft SQL Server (2005 of later) is installed and readily available. If it is not available, Microsoft SQL Server Express can be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft website, with the default instance name set to SQLEXPRESS. Should you use the Express edition, please note the restrictions on this edition.

2. Ensure that IIS is installed, readily available and properly configured as per the instructions in this link.

3. Retrieve the Staff.Wiki on-premise installation. Details of installing this are at this link.

4. Once it is running and you can access the system through a web browser, you will have a chance to set up the system admin and some basic information.

5. Next you should register your Staff.Wiki license. This will be provided to you by your account representative. There are instructions on doing this here.

6. Once tests with logging in as the default admin login are concluded, you may then enable Active Directory integration. This is in this article.  Alternatively you can configure SSO.

Note: The system admin login will be controlled through Staff.Wiki directly, and not Active Directory. 

7. After this you can optionally add departments and user groups to the system, in the Configuration tab, and then proceed to add policies and procedures to the system. If you are using Active Directory or SSO, it can be configured to add users as they log in, so long as the user is authenticated first. Please see our training videos for more information.

8. Before the system is used by your staff. ensure your backup process is properly configured, executes frequently (eg. every day) and is tested on a regular basis. For more information please read this. This is critical to ensure that no data is inadvertently lost in day to day usage.
