Cybersecurity Survey Singapore 2022 (Trellix)

Below we've summarized the results of a recent global study commissioned by security vendor Trellix that canvassed responses from 9,000 cybersecurity decision-makers.

50% feel inundated by an endless stream of cyber attacks, describing this as one of their biggest work frustrations.

25% of cybersecurity professionals in Singapore felt "very confident" in their organization's ability to adapt to cater to new threats, compared to an average of 36% globally.

62% in the Asian market acknowledged they were struggling to keep up with the constantly evolving threat landscape.

Singapore cybersecurity firms had to deal with on average 54 cybersecurity incidents a day.

  • 39% manage 50 to 200 cybersecurity incidents a day.
  • 34% globally deal with 25 to 50 security incidents a day
  • 25% had to manage 50-100 cybersecurity incidents a day.

80% of cybersecurity firms in Singapore said security breaches in the past year led to losses of up to 10% of their organization's revenue.

64% said their current security tools did not support their security operations team to function with maximum efficiency.

35% said they have blind-spots in their protection.

38% said they were likely to implement network detection and response tools in the next 18 months, 35% said they would implement security information and event management (SIEM).

Siloed security systems were pinpointed as one of the biggest pain points. This refers to the large number of different platforms, each with their own security system, that companies have: each new system that is introduced adds an extra dimension of possible security vulnerabilities and management. This makes it that much harder to keep information secure.

79% globally cited either employee error or social engineering (employee error such as users downloading compromised files or clicking malicious links) as the top cybersecurity threat their organization faced. 39% pointed to insider threats (staff breaking into their own systems).

Top cybersecurity concerns: 44% said high cost of cybersecurity products and services, 39% pointed to difficulties detecting and responding to threats and 36% were concerned about having insufficient threat intelligence and access to insights.
